Abstract

The city, as a spatial materialization, is the condition, means and product of social reproduction. Today, its production, which is always continuous and the result of a historic process, has been formally marked by the actions of agents who represent public and private enterprise. Nevertheless, the city production cannot be limited do the action of these two agents. The inhabitants, whether articulated and either represented or not by social movements, in their daily routine also intervene and produce space, often generating conflict. This article is intended to discuss the action of theses agents in the city of São Paulo.
