Abstract

At the New Spain the ilustrated movement involved political, administrative, social and cultural changes. The Mexico city wasn´t indifferent to them, its space was modified by an urban reform made by the surveyor, arquitect and mayor master of the city: Ignacio de Castera. As part of his activities Castera realized several city maps thad had been cartographic references in several works about the Mexico city in the XVIII century. The main objective of this work will consider the cartography not only as support point but also as social product and a knowledge form power related. Trhough the analysis of the Castera´s cartography can be detected those elements that had been part of the illustrated speech applied to the territory organization and the urban spaces.
