Abstract

At the beginning of industrialization in Asturias, employers implemented measures designed to adapt the new industrial workers to the incipient way of production. These techniques, between paternalism and panoptism, had as the center of its strategies the space, a key to the different molding plans. In the last years, the rich Asturian industrial heritage has suffered important loss, been considering separately residential heritage, protected in most of cases, and the industrial installations, relevant elements just are being respected and protected by law. We try and give a practical example of how fields both residential and productive are part of a whole whose meaning and scope is impossible to get if any of the parts is skipped.
