Abstract

This paper explores the problem generated in Spain by increased urban development and building, on the one hand, and the disproportionate rise in the price of housing. Building more residential housing in parallel with rising prices is an apparent paradox in terms of current economic thinking. Having presented the problem, the paper analyses possible solutions based on different ideological approaches, reaching a series of conclusions that might serve to tackle the issue of urban planning and the housing sector with a view to the future.
