The analysis of housing in Manaus (Brazil), as a estrategy to understanding the city

Abstract

The space of the housing produces the fragmentation and the articulation of the city, which approaches and moves away contradictions between rich and poor. Manaus presents great population contingent inhabiting in inadequate areas, igarapés, hillsides, in precarious housings and with inadequate access to the urban services. The importance of understanding the production of the housing at the city of Manaus are that it makes possible to unify the some aspects of urban analysis, especially when are observed that the current problems of the society seem to be each time and much more articulated as problems of space nature. Finally the text points that the precarious housings in the city are not only manifestations of the differences. More than this, are tolerated and they proliferate.
