Abstract

The new settlements CRABI are formed for six hundred familiar farmers who were expropriated from their farms when the construction of the Salto Caxias hydroelectric took place, in Iguaçu River, Paraná State. They are an extraordinary example that explains how socioeconomic structure, based on supportive economy, has been basic for the exploitations maintenance, where they live. Farmers, organized in ten new settlements, and these ones in 19 associations, are affiliated to a credit supportive cooperative, CRESOL. From here, they get, with a supportive endorsement, means to cultivate and to necessary inversions at the exploitations. Their organisation, structured in associations, allows them to purchase agricultural supplies and sell their production collectively. The production and the money for this production, prove that familiar farming, inserted in supportive economy, is feasible.
