Abstract

We analyze the dynamics of land use in Madrid between 1990 and 2000 using data from CORINE. It carries out a cross tabulation of the two maps of land use and determining the total and net change, swap, as well as gross gains and gross losses for each category of land use, at different levels of disaggregation of the land use legend. There is a strong growth in urban areas, a less growth of forest and a significant decrease in the areas involved in agricultural activities.
