Abstract

It is analyzed, on the one hand, the rural model in Extremadura and, by another, the impact of the European politics of territorial rural development, through the Initiative LEADER and of the Program PRODER, that are being managed in the region since 1991. The rural areas has experienced a series of recent transformations, that are synthesized in the terciarización of the rural economies, in a multi-sector system of incomes and in the stabilization of the population, to the ones that they have contributed in some measure these European initiatives. A methodology will be presented, through a Multivariate Analysis, to explain and to define the current rural model, the recent processes and the concrete impact of these rural politics.
