El turismo en Pirenópolis, Goiás, Brasil

Abstract

Tourism is the third source of income in Pirenópolis. Besides, this source is being increased by a program that creates touristics centers in Goias. Pirenópolis and the implantation of Pireneus National Park in the same locality are part of this program. This activity is being developed without any kind of order, producing social conflicts, environmental degradation and premature death of this source of income. This paper tempts to caracterize touristic process with the aim of offering data for planning this activity. Data were being taking from documents, enquiries and interviews. An amount of 880 questionaries were distributed among tourists, only 122 could be available. Tourists, touristics agents, functionaries, managers and local residents were interviewed. Results were usefull for knowing not only Pirenópolis tourist profile but tourism evolution all along time as well.
