About the metropolitan issue: new management scale, new struggle scale to social movements.

Abstract

In times of globalization, urban organization is a phenomenon even more metropolitan and requires a permanent revision of its criteria of concepts and ways of management of these social spaces. The corporate capital has been the agent that affects new delimitations and management means the most, as well as designing new management instruments, as strategic and social cohesion plans, likewise, strategically, limiting the use of democratic instruments of management based on participative instances. To sum up, our analysis perspective is to recover ways of popular participation and to apprehend possible means to limit the new ways to dominate territory through capital. We do that from the research experience in the metropolitan area and region of Rio de Janeiro.
