Abstract

We highlight how J. M. López Piñero constructed a discourse of great value to the history of science, taking the intellectual core of the history of medicine as his starting point. Within the interdisciplinary context of his work, certain chapters of great interest to the history of geography stand out. His contribution to the temporal order of scientific progress was based on a rejection of “empty” periods and on the relativisation of periods of “great figures”, drawing attention to the importance of the “intermediate generations”.
