The tourist imagine of Cuba, Jamaica and Dominican Republic: a comparison between Italian tour operators publications and local tourism offices ones

Abstract

After a general vision of Italian tourist movement to Cuba, Jamaica and Dominican Republic the attention is focalised on the tourist image proposed by tour operators and tourist offices. The study concerns a comparative analysis between the image proposes by Italian tour operators and that proposes by the Italians delegations of Cuban, Jamaican and Dominican tourist offices. This idea was born from the conviction that these two different types of publication want underline aspects peculiarly different between them. We can say that the tour operators promotion suggest only some aspects of tourist phenomenon: sol y playa, relax and enjoyment, while the tourist offices publications, above all for Cuba, suggest alternative tourist resources like: nature, history and tradition, in other words suggest a no stereotyped vision of their country.
