Abstract

During the late XIX and the early XX centuries, accompanying the new wine production, related and derived industries started to appear and to take shape in the irrigated oases of Mendoza and San Juan, in Argentine. European inmigrants made a fundamental contribution to the origin and development of these industries by bringing a nonexistent technology to these settlements. This was particullary evident over two metallurgical sectors: the production of machines and equipment for winneries and distilleries, and the production of agricultural implements.
