Abstract

The demographic survey carried out in 1970 by the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) has so far been the great databank for the analyses of the migratory process in Brazil. Scientific analyses and researches have established the role of migrations in the industrialization period in Brazil, which, at that time, broadened its frontiers towards the Amazon. Such analyses found support in the worldwide literature which analysed similar phenomena regarding population migration. Such migration rearranged the territory according to the spatial organization of the countries that were expanding their frontiers to bear urban and industrial development. However, the expansion of innovations across the country and the changes in the world-economy after the 80s made way to and unveiled a new reality which expresses itself also through daily work force migrations. This work is aimed at approaching the moves of Brazilians as regards work force migration phenomena across the country.
