Abstract

The various trials to contain the erosion in Chile evidenced the rapid growth of the illustrious pine. For its comparative advantages, the national forest policy stimulated his plantation through decree law 701 of 1974 that subsidized in a 75% the afforestation cost. It apply various tax incentives and established the imposibility of expropiation of lands forest. As consequence is carried out in the country a notable expansion of the forest plantations, what implied a spectacular summit of industry and of the exports wood companies. Nevertheless, this forest policy was severely criticized by some sectors of the opinion publish that they questionned its effects on the physical environment and socioeconomic, especially the expulsion and pauperization of the rural communities, the concentration of the property, the loss of biodiversity, the desiccation of floods and the salinization and compactaction of soils.
