Abstract

The study of population distribution in urban space based on different socio-demographic characteristics is an essential element for diagnosis of urban reality and thus for the design of public policies aimed at community integration of the immigrant population. This article analyzes the presence, diversity and segregation of the foreign population resident in the city of Seville, offering a comparative analysis with three other Spanish cities (Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia). Based on these three indicators have been developed four models of neighborhood, namely neighborhoods representing extreme cases of segregation, multicultural neighborhoods, suburbs and neighborhoods booming indigenous. Finally, we analyzed the different rationales underlying the choice of either model as a residence neighborhood.
