Abstract

The Judge of Orphans of Porto Alegre was an important public institution that has contributed to the social adjustment of families porto-alegrense which passed by a situation of family breakdown involving minors in the early years of twentieth century. From the Guardianship processes started in the 3rd Notary Office in Porto Alegre, between the years 1902 to 1925, will be presented to the social and moral values had importance in the decisions and outcomes to protect a minor.
