Abstract

Last years, in the inner city of european and north american cities take place very contrasted processes; lots of foreign immigrants establish themselves there -often in houses in bad conditions-, and simultaneously the inner city is deeply improved to attract medium and high social classes. Here is explained the case of an inner city quarter in Barcelona through the analysis of two streets, everyone of them with the predominance of one of the two processes.
