Foreign European immigrants with tourism enterprises as alternatives of development in rural areas

Abstract

According to the increasing flows of population from the North to the South of Europe, the aim of this paper is to study the development of tourism enterprises in rural areas of southern European countries (in particular France and Spain), as a way to developed these areas. Specifically, the paper analyses the development of tourism enterprises by northern European immigrants in three Departments of southern France, and the possibility of extending this type of economic initiatives into the rural areas of Spain.
