Abstract

The advances in the acknowledgement of indigenous rights have originated a parallel process involving claims of social minorities to be accepted as aboriginal people. In some cases there does not exist a solid link between those groups and the indigenous ones from which they supposedly derive. One of these cases is that of the "modern huarpes", whose reasons must be analyzed considering some materialist issues like the access to land property based on the possibilities granted to Argentine indigenous communities by present-day legislation.
