Abstract

This work propose a new reading of Social Morphology, the first methodical approach that sociological theory (as Durkheim and Halbwach's view) devise for the study of social substratum -and, thus, to carry perform an analysis of urban and demographic realms-. Notwithstanding, the scope of this analytic perspective is wider. The sociological construction of Social Morphology, in permanent discussion with Human Geograpghic and other sociological literatures, goes through several stages, which defines different contents. Maurice Halbwachs, disciple of Emile Durkheim, developped its morhological perspective to study the urban structure of great cities and their sociological statute.
