Abstract

The study carried out with 1.144 steelworkers women from Manaus, Salvador and Fortaleza (Brazil) shows a socio-economical profile identical to other sectors concerning age, schooling, marital status and number of children. Due to the fact that metallurgy is a mainly masculine profession, it was necessary to the analysis of the health conditions, apart from the traditionally studied features, to focus on aspects that can lead women to anxiety and stress, such as racial and gender prejudice as well as sexual harrassement at work.
