Abstract

The unemployment issue and its social consequences reintroduce the topic of social exclusion and its different forms of manifestation. This report is meant to analyse this phenomenon from two perspectives. The first perspective, in structural terms, focuses on understanding statistically (in socio-demographical terms and in relation to labor backgrounds) the most important features of the unemployed labor force in the region of Gran Rosario (Argentina), trying to define which groups are the most affected. The second perspective, on interpretative grounds, aims at informing about the conflicts the individuals, his family and his circle of relations have to endure due to unemployment issues. It also puts forward a new line of analysis that links present experiences which stem from unemployment (as a temporary and spatial fracture) with a retrospective view of the past working days.
