Abstract

Our article deals with the analysis of reports of the Newspaper O Imparcial, from Presidente Prudente, about the actions of MST. The speech transmitted by the newspaper reveals us tendency of the Press in announcing the facts starting from semantically negative constructions about the movement, which in its turn makes us question about the relationships of established by the Press. As it announces the facts, the Press does it starting from "modalities of the saying" which don’t allow to the reader a favorable interpretation to MST, at the same time that express forms of violence against the rural landless workers. In that sense, the journalistic speech reveals, in their linguistic components, a discriminatory treatment for the actions of claims of MST, that a lot of times are approached as cases for the Police and not social subjects. It is beginning from that discussion that we looked for to analyze the discursive forms in the newspaper, aiming the determinations and obvious social practices in the production and reproduction of the space.
