Abstract

In 2006 the Agave Landscape was declared a World Heritage Site and, since then, has been questioned the management performed about the same. Some issues have worsened due to the lack of coordination of public administrations and the economic interests of private companies, more concerned to turn it into a theme park that in preserving the values that promoted his statement. The lack of a sustainable tourism model requires to consider initiatives that boost this sector towards sustainability. This paper proposes a system of indicators to move towards that goal and, moreover, contribute to the permanence of the site as a world heritage.
