Abstract

The economic evolution of Caxias do Sul (Brazil) can be analized from several economic cycles that allowed its region to turn into a very important Brazilian industrial concentration. Its concentration of metal-mechanic industries is one of most dinamics and diversified in Brazil. This paper discuss the impacts of new technologies on this industry and the productive reorganization and capital concentration strategies generates. The paper focus the industrial technologic base and the frameworks of production gestion and reproduction of work processes, analysing the social policies used by several corporations.
