Bolivian Workers migrants in the Argentinian horticulture: transformation of the rural landscape in the Inferior Valley of the Chubut River

Abstract

The Inferior Valley of the Chubut River is located in the northeast of the Chubut province, in the Patagonian region the Argentina Republic. The organization of the rural space and the agrícolo-cattleman production began with the arrival of immigrants coming from Wales in 1865. Two decades ago new residents settled down in the valley, Bolivian immigrants. They are part of migratory current that began asa border migration in the Argentinan northwest area. This collective got involved in the horticultural activity of the valley. Also, with the Bolivian horticulturist's arrival, the agricultural activity is organized in small parcels where there is an area plenty variety of cultivations horticultural and even fruit-bearing. The impact is deep as it changes the rural landscape and the work is developed as a consequence of the family work. New modalities of work contracts are implemented, and relationship of the property of the earth, in agricultural practices and production.
