Diaspora and Asian communities in Spain

Abstract

The Asian people in Spain are not very well-known in spite of their long historical settlement and their at present sizeable population. The concept of diaspora is referred to a specific migration pattern, one of its characteristics is the no asimilation to the host society. The diasporic communities’ members make efforts in order to don’t loose their mother languages and ethnic community links, because a great part of their economic success and laboural activities depend on to maintain them. This article describes the general characteristics of the main Asian communities in Spain and their different strategies of adaptation whithin the global context of their belonging diasporas.
