Abstract

The working-class housing degradation during the industrial revolution, due toheaping, pollution, and unhygienic conditions, became a serious worry to the leading groups, who were afraid of the strength the working-class organisations were obtaining, and of the crisis of the traditional social order as well. One answer to that matter was the project elaboration of housing with hygienic, cheap conditions. Here is exposed the Societat EconòmicaBarcelonesa d'Amics del País contribution to the development of these plans.
