Abstract

From a series of original fiscal sources, is studied the distribution and the value of the totality of the buildings of Bilbao in the decade of 1890, key moment in the conformation of the new industrial city. The analysis of the rents considered by house in an ample series of chosen complete streets in the city, is crossed information of the place of residence of different professional groups in the same date. The result in a global vision of the strong social segregation of the space that displayed the city in that date, and the repercussions in the development of Bilbao and its central role in the urban area of Bilbao River.
