The housing question in the São Paulo metropolis

Abstract

The process of space reproduction in the metropolis of São Paulo under the shelter of the capital has been realized, today, through dramatic implication to the act of "dwelling". In this plan - that of the daily events - the social-spacial practice is invaded by the possibilities, always enlarged, of realization of accumulation, imposing strong restrictions to the ways of appropriation. The aftermath, the use of the productive space is imposed bringing the act of dwelling down to a practical end. This process causes the fragmentation of space and, as a consequence, segregation.
