Abstract

The aim of this paper is to know and to analyse the role and importance of the big companies in housing production in Spain. We will analyse internal changes produced in this sector between 1973 and 2000: a) inside of the block of big companies; b) in the territorial distribution of the centres of power and decisions, c) in the type of foreign capital penetration in this sector, and d) in the dynamics concentration who is living managerial activity from the second part of the 90s. At the same time it is interesting to demonstrate its role as social power and its linking with financial system. Big companies, political power, financial power, and social and territorial hierachisation appear closely linked with construction and real state sectors. Individual agents can to participate throughout their strategies of particular and private investment around housing.
