Abstract

Genoa is the Italian city with the highest number of elder people. In fact, nearly 25% of the population is over 65 year-old and nearly 20% of it is not in condition of living by themselves. Furthermore, the number of elder people who lives alone is also very high. This situation determines and will determine much more in the next future a strong demand for specific residential structures, in order to improve their quality of life. However, that need might be also proportionate to the demand in terms of territorial distribution so as not to move elder people away from the quarters where they have lived for years.
