Abstract

The speculative strategies of the process of intra-urban structuralization of Natal, in the period of strong expansion, implied the outlying occupation and the maintenance of unoccupied properties in the interstices of the city, opposing to the disputes of spaces to live. Nowadays, the municipality has more than 80% of its surface used and the shortage of parcels stimulates the renovation of certain nuclei, yielding attraction and repulse of the several types of habitational demands. That happens for cause a true dispute for advantages and disadvantages within the urban space configures the hierarchical structure of the land use and occupation in Natal.
