Abstract

Many times the way in which labour mobility and residential mobility are treated is only taking into account a single issue: the percentage of commuters who make a change of municipality to work. In turn, it is not considered the variable distance from the place of residence to the workplace. From this point of view, this essay stresses the effect of both, so the migration over commuting as well as its impact in regard to the distance between residence and workplace. Conclusions are mainly based upon these two considerations cited above, and whereby we have carried out an specific component analysis to verify the following: either which features are caused by a different behaviour towards residential migration (basically due to the fact of being a recent migrant or not) or as a result of the own migration’s characteristics.
