Formación del empresariado extracomunitario y contexto social. El caso del poniente almeriense

Abstract

Spain has recently become an inmigration country turning the foreign population into an structural element of the society. The foreign small businessemen and self-employed workers are key elements when considering the inmigrants settlement in the Spanish society. They play too an important role in the social promotion and economic consolidation of their own communities. This study is focused on the extracomunitarian small businessmen in the Western part of Almeria. The work hypothesis make reference to two variables: the receiving context and the social origin of immigrants. The tendency of the immigrants to reproduce their social class, the effects of the Spanis legislative frame, the role of the local labour market and the attitudes of native population are analyzed.
