Abstract

Within the framework of International Maritime Law, the creation and delimitation, according to the UN 1982 convention, of such maritime spaces as Territorial Sea, Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the High Seas are here analysed with special reference to the problems they present when applied to archipelagos such as the Canary Islands, the Atlantic insular territory whose status as an autonomous region within the Spanish State does not include the sovereignty over its waters, yet to be delimited.
