Labor market and new features of foreing inmigration in the Canary Islands

Abstract

The inmigration received in the Canaries from the second half of the nineties is deeply linked to the changes which the regional labor market has experienced. The present phenomenon of inmigration is defined by its fast increase, its laboral and demographic variety and its spreading to the whole islands. A non EU economical inmigration with a uneven island presence joins to the traditional european inmigration for living and leisure, wich has been associated to tourist economy of the archipelago.
