Abstract

The cities of Pelotas and Rio Grande are the main urban centers of the south of the state of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). Throughout centuries XIX and XX they presented periods of industrial, commercial and urban development, as well like periods of crises and recession coincident. Situated in research program on a emergent territoriality, the communication seeks to analyze the performance of the different fractions of the capital in real property and its relations with the process of urban restructuring in progress in the cities of Pelotas and Rio Grande. We argue that nowadays the capital in real property is the main agent of the intra-urban reconstruction and the socio-spatial and functional integration of the agglomeration. We analyze the performance of the real estate agents in the social production of the urban space in this centers, studying the main promotions and the correspondence of spatial forms in this urban agglomeration in formation.
