Resumo

This paper discusses the importance of informal and entrepreneurial networks in real estate markets and its spatial effects. Studies that do research on actor’s networks within this market are scarce. Conceptually it is based on power and network theories, discussing decisions with high level of spatial relevance. By applying two complementary methodologies we analyze existing networks, main actors, power acts and power resources in the dynamic real estate sector of Santiago de Chile. The conclusions of this work intend to contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of divergent spatial structures within the cities. Different types of networks are identified; they are characterized by the nature of their linkages, resources and the common “biography”. The importance of formal and informal networks in the process of urban governance is shown – this coexists with the instable character of power and the processes of negotiation.
