Resumo

The green areas are public spaces whose parent is the vegetation. Urbanization in Mexico progress has impacted their environmental conditions, it is essential to protect, preserve and increase the urban green areas since functions essential to the quality of life of the inhabitants. The present paper highlights the importance of adequate management of vegetation, which is credited with a variety of qualities to improve environmental conditions. The care, management and maintenance of green areas require commitment to both society and Government entities associated with them. The challenge is to make the green areas to fulfill the functions assigned to it by the modern urban environmental vision.
