Abstract

Tourist Cartography via Internet is a tool that is increasingly used as it has proven to be a useful instrument when planning a touristic visit and during the visit. Furthermore, the maps help to shape the image the tourist has of the destination and is a basic element in online promotion. Given the impact tourist cartography has in this activity, it seems important to know the level and quality of its implantation in the study area (Costa Dorada) which is the main aim of this communication. This analysis is completed by a series of suggestions and opportunities in reference to IT, and especially, Geographic Information Technologies applied to promoting tourist destinations.
