Digital segregation in context

Abstract

The digital World, that is in the first stages of installation, tends to work as a whole articulated, but simultaneously differentiated and fragmented. The installation of the digital world, that is governed by the norms of current economic and political model, derives in diverse forms of segregation. The emergent digital segregation has diverse stages or phases, and is possible identify, characterize and visualize it on different geographic scales. Our contribution contextualize the digital segregation, and begin with a reflection about several definitions of it, continues with identification of its main characteristics and finishes with the characterization of the phases of the digital divide.
