Among the challenges to historiography, the search and access to primary sources are a decisive factor in the researchers' analysis. Not always available, the archives have other problems such as lack of professionals, damaged equipment and unreadable documents. The online availability of these collections allow us to overcome some of these difficulties, facilitating research, while others challenges appear, especiallythe disclosure of these material. This article aims to present one of these digital collections, the Latin American Microform Project, its advantages and limitations. Therefore, based on the premises of Digital History, we analyzed this initiative highlighting the uses for the historians. In addition to the Database itself, we used the reports of the institution responsible for the project. The effort of providing primary material and their indexing, beyond limitations, provoke changes in the relation between the researcher, fonts, texts, and especially the reader.Downloads
