Abstract

The “Plataforma de Afectados por la Hipoteca” (Platform of Mortgage Victims) has turned into one of the strongest movements of the last two years in Spain in terms of its impact on the political and economic structures, as well as its presence in the mass media. Parting from a perspective that combines a structural analysis of the context in which the PAH is born and raised, with an analysis focused on the achievements of the Platform when it comes to create and socialize an alternative “framing” of what the crisis meant for most of the population, this article explores the impacts and achievements of the PAH and it deepens on the causes of their success in terms of mobilization, specially noteworthy in comparison with that of other 15M and “Indignados”-related movements, whose presence in the public space has gradually diminished, whereas the Plataforma's keeps growing
