Participation, Organization and Actions of the Colombian peasantry: the Experience of ANZORC
Keywords:
Peasant Reserve Zones, armed conflict, land, ColombiaAbstract
In Colombia, violence, in the framework of social armed conflict, and a high concentration of land have been persistent social situations for the country’s rural sector, which has led to the exclusion of peasants from the national political and social arenas. This article aims to present an analysis of the National Association of Peasant Reserve Zones (Asociación Nacional de Zonas de Reserva Campesina or ANZORC) as an organizational process of the Colombian peasantry around the Peasant Reserve Zones. Thus, we shall include a description of such legal concept, as well as of the social and political context surrounding its creation. Finally, we shall reflect on the challenges facing the Association in the current and future political scene.
