This text is the result of reflection on the concept of Hispanism reflected through the presence of Spanish painting in the exhibition of fine arts at the International Exhibition of the Centenary of Argentinian independence in 1910. The author insists on the importance of the direct participation of relevant characters of the Spanish colony in the Argentinian capital, as is the case of José Artal. This aspect is key to understanding the success of Hispanic representation and its artistic proposals, including that of Anglada-Camarasa. The role of Spain as a “mother country” in the Argentina of the 20th century is consolidated with this international event, as well as the presence of Spanish painting in the Argentine market.Downloads
