After exploring the relationship between cinema and history, this article analyzes three films that revolve around Christopher Columbus and his overseas enterprise: Cristóbal Colón or La grandeza de América (1943), shot in Mexico under the direction of exiled Spanish Republican José Díaz Morales; a Colombian animated film, Cristóbal Colón (Fernando Laverde, 1983), which will allow me to delve into the Latin American cinematographic representations of Columbus and his transatlantic adventure; and También la lluvia (2010), in which the Spanish director Iciar Bollaín reflects on today´s consequences of the conquest.
