This article analyzes the historical keys and mystifications of the film The Brest Fortress (Alexander Kott, 2010). Of course, through his images, the traits of a Russian identity conveniently configured through a series of calculated historical oversights, a bombastic visual epic and sublimated heroism that are very revealing about the features of a Russian nationalism of sacrifice and dedication that (indirectly) aspires to shape today's Russia.
