Abstract

On the 60th anniversary of the film Lawrence of Arabia, produced in 1962, this cinematic work still retains its reputation as a cult classic. In addition to its epic standing, the film avoids genre limitations in depicting the highly enigmatic Thomas Edward Lawrence, who was a major figure in the desert wars of 1916 to 1918. Through historical license, David Lean was able to create a film that captured the essence and controversy surrounding the main character, portrayed by Peter O'Toole.

MARCOS RAFAEL CAÑAS PELAYO, IES Maimónides (Córdoba)

Es Doctor Europeo por la Universidad de Córdoba Magíster en Cinematografía y Textos, Documentos e Intervención Cultural, Premio Extraordinario fin de Carrera en Historia. Ejerce como profesor de Geografía e Historia en el IES Maimónides (Córdoba). Su tesis Doctoral fue Premio Extraordinario en Humanidades 2016, dentro del campo de la historia social, teniendo también como líneas de investigación el papel de las nuevas tecnologías (especialmente cine, cómic y videojuegos) para el aprendizaje de las Ciencias Sociales. En el plano académico, ha publicado en varias revistas de impacto, además de participar en diferentes congresos nacionales e internacionales junto con capítulos en obras colectivas.
